My r29 was tested from shop at 452 feet per second. Haven't tested my r26 or the cheaper one. But 452 is fast and kicks
Good thing you stayed away from the R26.
That thing has a 340# draw weight.
And with a 400 grain arrow and that tiny string and 4 tiny cables it’s no wonder they have string and limb issues, there’s nowhere for the energy to go except back into the bow it’s like dry firing that thing.
You know I've Got The Raven r10 crossbow actually I have two of them and they are really super nice and I wanted to crossbow a little bit longer than the crossbow you have it just seems to fit me better and both of mine shoot 409 ft a second and I don't feel I need anything any faster than that I'm already having a hard time finding targets that will stop the arrow even the spider targets if you shoot the same spot more than once you're going through it I think 409 ft a second is plenty fast enough and I really like it and it's a really good deal for the money they've got a lot of these other Ravens that cost two or $3,000 and I feel this one performs just as well as the rest and you don't hear anything on YouTube or on the Internet about limbs breaking on the raven r-10
Sure seems like an awesome crossbow. My last 3 were TenPoints. Decided to try the Ravin this time. I bought the R29x about 2 hours ago. Now I have to patiently wait for a week or 2 to get it. 🤐
Great bow, I own it. Not a fan of the de-cocking process. I had to YouTube it and now use an Allen wrench to facilitate de-cocking the release mechanism from the cable…not super happy about that considering how much you pay for one of these.
what broadheads are you using?
I hunted this evening and when two deer showed up I spooked them. Guess what I was doing. You got it – going for the safety. I got busted. And there were two other deer I couldn't see until they spooked. And the safety of my bow is a lot better positioned that that one. Raven makes a great bow(s) but the position of the safety on the R29 may be a necessity in terms of engineering but that position is going to cost people a lot of opportunities and frustration. There's no way I'd ever buy a bow with the safety in a position as non-functional as that one. It negates all of the good things about the bow.
What's the best brand crossbow 2200 or less? Been looking at Ten Point, Mission, maybe Ravin?
I have the R29X. I really like it. I think the Ten Point has a better crank system especially for de-cocking the crossbow, I feel like the Ravin wants to take off and throw my hand off when uncocking so you need to be very careful where the Ten Point just stops without having to release a button on the back. They are very noisy and do have a lot of recoil but that's what I get for shooting 454 fps. As far as arrows goes Ravin rips you off with the price not their arrows. They warn you that your warranty will be no good if you don't use their arrows but I could shoot other arrows for much less than what they charge you for theirs. Lastly their strings leave a lot to be desired. They wear out very quickly so a custom string will give you much better string life. Oh I forgot to ask you what broadheads you shoot with your R29?
